Where is the workshop being held?

Our workshops are held at The Yard, 35A Newnham Street, Ely

Is there parking at The Yard?

There is a public car park next door: Newnham Street Carpark. All of the public car parks in Ely are free!

Do I need to bring anything?

All of the clay and tools that you need will be provided, so just bring your lovely self. If you have a sketchbook or pictures you want to use for inspiration, bring those along. 

Will it be messy?

That's up to you! You may get a bit dusty, but we'll provide wet wipes for hands, and there are toilets on site. If you're worried about getting clothes dirty please bring an apron - all clay will easily brush off or wash out. 

Can I bring a child?

The workshop is for over 16s only. If you wish to bring an infant who would remain in a pushchair please get in touch. 

Can I eat dinner?

We encourage everyone to fuel up for pottery class! Because clay work can be a bit dusty please come early if you want to make the most of The Yard's delicious kitchen. You can eat whilst potting but you'll need to be mindful of messy hands, so we wouldn't recommend snacking food. 

What drinks are included?

You can choose a glass of prosecco, nosecco, or a soft drink, please select your drink when you book.

Why don't you fire by default?

We like to encourage our potters to enjoy the process and explore their creativity, sometimes you may not finish a piece, or may not like its vibes! Once fired pottery cannot be recycled, so we want you to love the pieces you choose to fire and want to keep them forever. If you have enjoyed the workshop but don’t want to keep the work, we are happy to recycle the clay and it can become someone else's' forever treasure or it can be fired and glazed for you. 

How do I request firing?

Firing your work comes with a £5 firing fee. You can select a glaze from our large selection and pieces will be returned to you once finished, you will need to add an identifying mark and leave us with that information as well as up to date contact details.

How will I collect my work?

When your work is ready we'll email you. You can find us at Ely Market every Saturday 8.30-15.30 for collection.

Can I cancel my spot?

To cancel please email elyclaycollective@gmail.com  - make sure you include your full name and booking reference. You can cancel up to 2 weeks before the workshop for a full refund, but if you cancel with less than 2 weeks notice we can offer you a voucher to book another workshop with us, or refund 50% of the workshop fee.  

Do you hold workshops anywhere else?

Currently we only offer workshops at The Yard. We’re always looking for venues that would like to welcome aspiring potters, so if you are a local business with a suitable space we’d love to hear from you!
