Workshops

Themed 2 hour sessions for all ability levels. We’ll guide you through a handbuilding project designed to be made and decorated within the session. The perfect introduction to pottery for a catch up with friends, a date night, or a treat for yourself.

Class size:

- Up to 30 students, 2 teachers. All abilities welcome.

What is included:

- All your materials and tools

- A drink to enjoy during the workshop

- If you would like to fire your piece at the end of the workshop there is an additional £5 charge, payable by cash or card at the end of the session.

Workshop FAQs

Our workshops are held at a variety of locations across Ely. The full address for your workshop will be listed in the product description, and you'll get a reminder email with the address before the event.

For Waterside Studio the nearest carpark is Ship Lane, for The Yard the nearest carpark is Newnham Street. All of the carparks in Ely are free!

All of the clay and tools that you need will be provided, so just bring your lovely self. If you have a sketchbook or pictures you want to use for inspiration, bring those along.

That's up to you! You may get a bit dusty, but we'll provide clean water and towels for hands, and there are toilets on site. If you're worried about getting clothes dirty please bring an apron - all clay will easily brush off or wash out.

The workshops are for over 16s only - unless otherwise stated. If you wish to bring an infant who would remain in a pushchair please get in touch.

To cancel please email elyclaycollective@gmail.com - include your full name and booking reference. You can cancel up to 2 weeks before for a full refund. If you cancel with less than 2 weeks notice we'll try to resell your ticket, if sold you’ll receive a voucher for 100% off your next workshop. If your ticket is not re-sold you'll get a 50% voucher to re-book.

Firing your work comes with a £5 firing fee. We’ll have card readers on site and you can also pay by cash. We’ll get you to fill out some paperwork so that we can identify your pot, and you can select your glaze.

We like to encourage our potters to enjoy the process and explore their creativity, sometimes you may not finish a piece, or may not like its vibes! Once fired pottery cannot be recycled, so we want you to love the pieces you choose to fire and want to keep them forever. If you have enjoyed the workshop but don’t want to keep the work, we are happy to recycle the clay and it can become someone else's' forever treasure.

When your work is ready we'll email you. Your pots will be available to collect from our Waterside studio during our opening hours.
